Matthew Williams PhD is a licensed acupuncturist and clinical herbalist with a doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine. His work stems from a deep desire to help people overcome physical as well as emotional challenges to improve their health and well-being.

Matthew was raised near Seoul, South Korea where he learned to prepare traditional herbal medicine from his maternal grandparents. This experience sparked a lifelong passion for using natural medicine to create balance and promote a healthy harmony of mind and body. Matthew is a master herbalist for Balanced Root Apothecary, where he offers herbal consultations as well as creates customized teas, tinctures, and traditional Chinese formulas.

Matthew currently offers home-based care, as well as sessions at CheetahFit Training and Massage Center in Boulder and Rooted Heart Yoga and Wellness in Denver. Matthew creates individual treatment plans that are informed by his holistic and biomedical background.  Based on presenting issues, patients may receive an integration of acupuncture, Tui Na massage, cupping, herbal remedies, and Chinese dietary therapy.

Matthew earned his undergraduate degree in Biology and Organic Chemistry from the University of Colorado (CU Boulder). He received his Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) at the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Denver. Matthew earned his doctorate from the University of Beijing School of Traditional Medicine.

Heather’s clients can overcome mental health difficulties such as depression and anxiety, which have been preventing them from living their best lives. The tool she likes to use most is humor, believing that there is so much power in laughter. While Heather is primarily responsible for medication management, she’s also trained in CBT, DBT, play therapy, and is certified to perform ECT.

Heather earned a Bachelor’s degree in psychobiology from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Master’s degree in molecular microbiology and immunology from Johns Hopkins University. She attended medical school at the University of California San Diego, completed her internship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., and her adult psychiatry residency and child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UCLA. She has worked in nearly all types of practice settings, including inpatient care in a community hospital and outpatient clinics.
